Coffee is grown all over the world, in Africa, Central and South America and Vietnam. But what do all of these places have in common? Their climates. Coffee grows best in warmer climates, specifically near volcanoes.

Volcanic soil is rich with minerals and provides extremely fertile ground for growing coffee plants. Inland, bordering both Laos and Cambodia, the Central Highlands is a region spanning five provinces in the south of Vietnam.

This region is far more temperate than the country’s coastal areas and features a rich, red volcanic soil with high concentrations of basalt. Vietnam is a country has perfect conditions for growing coffee with soil and unique climate. Vietnamese coffee is grown in areas with altitudes of 500 to 1,200 meters above sea level.

Coffee production in Vietnam turned a once-war-torn country into an export powerhouse.  Over the past three decades, coffee has played an important role in Vietnam’s agriculture and economy.

The coffee industry has created more than half a million jobs, and is the main livelihood of thousands of households. Coffee export value usually accounts for about 15% of total agricultural export turnover and the share of coffee has always exceeded 10% of agricultural GDP in recent years.

About 50% of the total coffee trees planted in Vietnam are from 10 to 15 years old, which offers the highest yield. In the coming years, Vietnamese coffee production will mainly rely on these trees.

Nearly 30% of other coffee trees are between 15 and 20 years old, and about 20% over 20 years old, which means productivity cannot be guaranteed.

Coffee wood dog chew from CWDC Vietnam is made 100% naturally from coffee tree wood, without adding any additives, artificial ingredients or preservatives.

The recycling of residual wood which would otherwise be disposed of as garbage fully utilises the lifecycle of the coffee trees and protects natural landscapes from being cleared. Only coffee trees over 20 years old with poor coffee bean yields are chopped down in order to obtain these woods in a sustainable manner.

Coffee wood chews are harder than regular sticks and when bitten they break into soft pieces or fibers that are easy to push out, unlike the splinters that can be found in any wooden stick. Coffee wood chews are mainly designed to be used as natural toys for dogs.

The small fibers released from these natural dog chews help to remove tartar and plague accumulated over the time inside the dogs teeth, which prevent bad breath and other health risks.
